I’ve been working as cabin crew for almost four years now and although I love travelling my skin absolutely does not. This last month I have worked the most hours in my entire flying career and my skin is paying the price. I’m talking breakouts, a crazy amount of oil production, huge pores and the odd dry patch just to top it all off. It’s not pretty.
As a result I’ve been investing a lot of time into my skincare routine so I thought that I would share some of my favourite products for maintaining your complexion while travelling.
I jumped on the Emma Hardie cleansing balm bandwagon a while ago and it’s still a firm favourite. It doesn’t dry out your skin at all so it feels incredible after a long flight. It also gets off every scrap of makeup and it smells heavenly.
I’m also a big fan of the Liz Earle clay mask. Amazing if you suffer from oily skin as it help to regulate oil production. It has a refreshing sensation on the skin so you can really feel it working. I like to use the cloth masks too for when my skin feels a little bit drier.
Recently I’ve discovered the Sunday Riley Luna night oil. There has been a lot of hype surrounding this product so I was expecting big things. I haven’t been using it for long enough to declare it a “holy grail” product but so far I’m impressed with it. The thought of putting an oil onto my skin intially repulsed me but it is absorbed by the skin pretty quickly and I find my skin looks significantly better in the morning when I wake up. It appears plump and healthy looking and so far it does seem to be helping with the breakouts. Be warned though, it is expensive stuff.
My lips are my main concern at the minute. They are so dry from all the flying and I just can’t seem to rehydrate them. I’ve been smoothering them in Clarins instant light lip balm during the day and using olive oil and brown sugar to exfoliate them but I’m on the hunt for a heavy duty lip balm to sleep in. Any recommendations on such a product would be much appreciated.
To be honest skincare is a bit of a weak spot of mine. I can be quite lazy with it and I really hate the feeling of lots of heavy products on my face. However I have really noticed a difference using this combination recently so if anyone suffering from similar skin issues I would recommend giving them a go.
