Favourite Lip Combos

For the past few weeks (if not months) I’ve found myself reaching for the same four lip colours. It’s a bit of a crime considering the number of lipsticks I own that I’m wearing the same four repeatedly but that must mean I really, really like them! So without further ado, here are my current favourite lip colours:

1. Illamasqua lipstick in “Buff” with Illamasqua eye pencil in “Fidelity” (used as a lip liner)

This one is my most recent acquisition and my most favourite favourite. I attended the Illamasqua school of makeup art about a month ago and this combination was recommended by one of our instructors to achieve the infamous Kylie Jenner lip. I’m not sure how “Kylie Jenner” my lips look but I’m in love with the colour. It’s a creamy brown, not something I’d ever have picked out myself but I think that makes me love it even more. The formula is very comfortable on the lips and not drying at all but still manages to last a decent amount of time. My only issue with the lipstick is that without the lip liner under it, it can apply a little patchy on me.

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in “Dusty Rose” with MAC lip liner in “Soar”

This has to be my most worn lip colour. I initially went in looking for “veronica” but “dusty rose” just spoke to me. I’m not sure what it said but I had to buy it and I’m glad I did. It’s a great colour for a nude lip look, it has enough pigment so that you’re not left looking washed out but doesn’t compete with a strong eye or a bold cheek colour.

3. Nars Velvet Matte lip pencil in “Cruella” and MAC lip liner in “Cherry”

I have to wear a red lip everyday to work and this is my current go to. It’s matte which means I don’t get it all over my face and it lasts all day. It’s comfortable too, which was always my main problem with other matte reds (rubywoo I’m looking at you!), so it’s much kinder to my lips.

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in “Craft” with MAC lip liner in “Plum”

Can you tell I like liquid lipsticks and MAC liners yet? I just find them so easy to wear, you don’t have to spend all day reapplying and they stay put. I love the colour of craft, it is a wearable purple and it feels very season appropriate to me at the minute. I usually pair it with a neutral eye or even just mascara.

As much as I do love these colours and formulas I think it might be time to add a few others to the mix. I’ve always been a matte lip lover so maybe it’s time to give gloss another go? Watch this space!
