It’s almost December again and I couldn’t be less prepared. This time last year I had my Christmas tree up, presents wrapped and under it and I was so excited for the festive period. This year is another story, I’m so unorganised and even the thought of Christmas shopping is making me feel a little bah – humbug. ME! Not wanting to shop!
The good news however, is that the end of the month means it’s November favourites time and monthly favourites are one the types of posts I enjoy reading the most. So in an attempt to cheer myself up about the imminent start of the new month, here are a few of the beauty products I’ve been loving over the past few weeks.
Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette
I picked this up on a recent trip to New York despite being on a spending ban and I’m not sorry. I’d been eyeing it up for weeks but as with the rest of the Kat Von D range it is permanently sold out in Dubai so when I saw it I grabbed it, to hell with the spending ban. I do really love this palette though so I can justify it. I love the colour range, they’re bright but not so bright that they’re unwearable and they are beautifully pigmented. I’ve read a lot of complaints about the packaging being so big but I don’t really have a problem with it, so it’s not the most practical but when do you ever find yourself travelling with so many eyeshadow colours anyway? And if you do surely it’s better to have them in one palette anyway. Maybe I’m biased but I love this thing, including the huge packaging.
Eyelure lashes in “Fleur Loves”
Next up are these beautiful lashes. As you can see from the picture mine have had a lot of love.
Perfect for day or night to give your lashes a little extra volume without looking drag queen or becoming unable to lift your eyelids. I now live in constant fear of the day they are no longer available. Please God make them permanent.
Becca/Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in “Champagne Pop”
Another youtuber product, I have a bit of a theme here. There’s not much to say about this one, but I’m still obsessed. I could never where Becca’s pearl shimmering skin perfector because it was too dark on my pasty skin but this is perfection. It’s blown all my other highlighters out of the water, I haven’t even looked at any of the others in about three months. It’s that good.
Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation
This is my favourite foundation not just of the month, but of life in general. I love it and as is always the case something new comes along that you just “have to” try and you forget about the old faithful. Well after my makeup course at illamasqua I fell back in love with this foundation and I’ve been faithful to it ever since. Perfect coverage, amazing staying power even on the longest flights and it photographs beautifully.
The Beauty Blender
Forgive me because I know this is the most boring of favourites. It’s a sponge for goodness sake. But it’s unlike any other sponge I’ve ever tried! I’ve used the real techniques one and it was ok but nothing special. This thing is magical. I don’t use it for foundation all that often but I love it for under eye concealer and blending in a strong blush. There is one huge negative with this product though, it is an absolute mo fo to clean, so maybe not one for a makeup kit to be used on clients because I’m not convinced it’s entirely hygienic.
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara
Last but not least is another oldie but goodie. I’d been trying out the Too Faced “better than sex” mascara and wasn’t impressed so when it was time to replace it I wanted something that I knew I’d like. My “holy grail” mascara is the YSL faux cils but I just can’t bring myself to pay all that money and have it dry out on me after two weeks so this is my next best thing. It gives great volume as well as adding a bit of length and it doesn’t crumble or flake.
