I’m not usually one for making New Year’s resolutions, or rather I’m not usually one for keeping them. This year though I thought it might be fun to make some “beauty resolutions”, basically things I’d like to change or improve on in my beauty/makeup routine.
The first one is to take better care of my skin. I’m really bad at this. Working such long hours at crazy times of the day and night I tend to blame the laziness on being exhausted. However as I get older I really need to start being more proactive in preserving my skin and avoiding wrinkles so tiredness is no excuse! This also includes drinking more water and trying to be more health conscious in general. In the same vein I want to try and remember to moisturise more, not just on my face but all over. I find this to be such a chore so I’m hoping to try out some of the new in shower type moisturisers.
My second resolution is to keep on top of my eyebrows. Bit of a strange one. This year I’ve kind of just let them grow free and it’s worked in thickening them up, but now that they’re the desired fullness I prefer the look of a nicely groomed brow. Time to start searching for a good threading lady!
One of the main things I want to improve on is being more adventurous with my makeup more often. It’s easy to get stuck into a rut and wear the same thing day in and day out but in order to improve my application skills it’s important to keep practicing and trying out new things. Also I have a lot of makeup so it’s a shame not to use it all, so I’m going to try and mix it up as much as possible or “shop my stash”.
Finally my main goal for 2016 is to learn as much as I can. I love makeup and in order to become a great makeup artist I want to know as much as I can about it. I’m particularly interested in learning more about fields that I am less familiar with such as male makeup and special effects. I got some great makeup books for Christmas to help me with this one so I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into them.
Let me finish by wishing you all a very happy New Year. If anyone else has any beauty resolutions I’d love to hear them!
