Makeup Haul

It’s January so everyone is off the booze, gymming regularly and tightening the purse strings. Everyone that is apart from me. Despite being on a self-imposed shopping ban and attempting to use more of the makeup in my collection I seem to have acquired quite a bit of new makeup recently. It seems I’ve fallen off the New Years resolution band wagon already. So to make myself feel a little less guilty about it I thought I’d do a “haul” blog post.

The thing that set off this little spending spree was the L’oreal mattifying 24 hour foundation. I’ve mentioned it before so I won’t ramble on about how much I love it again. However I do have one word of warning if you’re considering purchasing it yourself, it oxidises like crazy once on the skin, so whatever shade you think you might be buy one shade lighter.

Recently I reached the end of my Estée Lauder double wear concealer and so I desperately needed a new one. Although I liked the coverage from Estée Lauder I found it to be a little drying around the eye so I wanted to try the Urban Decay naked concealer. As always seems to be the way in Dubai they were out of stock. So I repurchased this Nars creamy concealer. I’ve used it before and I definitely like it although I’m not entirely sure it’s worth the huge hype that surrounds it. Good, not great.

After the concealer purchase any thoughts of New Year’s resolutions were completely gone from my mind. Whilst searching for the Urban Decay concealer I saw that they had the new Gwen Stefani palette in stock. I’d heard a lot about this palette on YouTube and from other bloggers but it always seemed a bit “meh” to me. The colours are mostly neutral and it didn’t really excite me. I knew that my sister was desperate for it though so I picked one up for her and ended up getting carried away and bought one for myself too. I’m actually glad that I did. Even though for the most part the colours are nothing new, the formula of the eyeshadow is beautifully buttery and easy to blend. I am obsessed with the packaging too. It’s very heavy and luxurious however I do think that probably accounts for the majority of the price tag. This is definitely not a product I needed but a lovely treat and I can’t wait to create some looks using it.

The next products were all gifts so I don’t feel too bad about them. This gorgeous green eyeshadow quad from Charlotte Tilbury is what I’m most excited about. I’ve eyed up “The rebel” numerous times but I’ve never wanted to splurge that much on colours that I won’t wear everyday so I was so happy to receive this as a gift. I can’t wait to have a play around with it.

Last but not least are these MAC liquid lipsticks. When I heard that MAC where (finally) releasing their own liquid lipsticks I knew I had to try them, they are my favorite type of lip product. I must say I was a little disappointed with the colour selection. None of them really jumped out at me and made me “need” to have them. I was hoping for some thing similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills or Kat Von D offerings in terms of shades. However there were two colours that caught my eye, mademoiselle a soft peachy nude and feels so grand a vibrant blue toned red. I’m looking forward to trying them out to see if the formula is up to scratch.

As always thanks for reading, I’d love to know if anyone else has cheated on their resolutions yet!
