It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with your makeup routine and wear the same products day in and day out. That’s great if you only own a few makeup items that you love and know work well for you. If however, you’re like me and own just about every eyeshadow in every colour then it’s a bit of a waste. Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying to make an effort to use some of the items in my collection that don’t get as much love as they should. I’ve been enjoying getting a little bit more creative with my makeup on my days off work and I thought I’d share the looks I’ve been wearing over the past week.
The first look was this bright purple smokey eye with blue winged liner. I used Kat Von D liquid lipstick in L.U.V. as a base to make the eyeshadow colours seem a little stronger. Then I used MAC eyeshadows in “stars and rockets” and “parfait armour” to create the smokey eye. I finished off with a Sephora liquid eyeliner in “fancy blue” and Huda lashes in “Gisele”.
The next look was another bright one. I find I rarely where pink so I decided to use it everywhere! I used MAC eyeshadow in “stars and rockets” again but with “da bling” this time to bring out the pink tones in it rather than the purple. I also used MAC pressed pigment in “moth”, which is a soft lavender colour, on the mobile lid to add a little sparkle. I finished off with a black wing and lashes. For the lip I used MAC lipstick in “I like it like that”, the perfect Barbie doll pink. It was really nice to use a proper lipstick for a change! I nearly always where liquid lipsticks these days.
For this next look I really struggled to get a good photograph of the makeup which is incredibly annoying because I was really happy with how it turned out in real life! I need to have a play around with my camera setting because it wasn’t this orange looking, but I’m sure you get the idea!
I went for a navy blue smokey eye with silver glitter on the lower lash line at the tear duct. Again the glitter didn’t translate onto the photograph very well. To create the look I used the Sleek “storm” palette and the
Collection glitter liner in hustle. On the lips I used MAC lip liner in spice and a little bit of lip balm. I really liked how the blue smokey eye looked with the warm brown lip. This would be a great look for a party or a night out.
For the final look I went for something a bit more natural and wearable. I used my new Gwen Stefani palette by Urban Decay on the eyes and my new MAC liquid lipstick in “mademoiselle” on the lips. I really liked. Formula of the liquid lipstick, it lasted all day! However if you don’t like the feeling of anything dry on your lips then you’ll absolutely hate this product. As you can see from the picture it’s very matte and looks dry on the lips and even started to crack a little but I don’t mind applying a lip balm over top so it doesn’t bother me too much. I just love that you don’t need to reapply all day. I’ll have to try it out a few more times before I can give a proper review, but so far I like it. I’m less thrilled with the colour though! I was hoping for a peach toned nude, something similar to MAC “shy girl” lipstick but instead it came out very orangey. It became more of a wearable colour the longer I left it on and maybe with a gloss over top I could learn to work with it. Hopefully I’ll have more luck with the red one!
As always thanks so much for reading, hope you all have a great weekend!
