To me February means one thing – pancake day. Everyone else seems to be more excited about Valentine’s Day though and I will admit it inspires much nicer makeup than pancakes do. I’ve seen some really beautiful Valentine’s makeup on Instagram and YouTube and it’s inspired me to create a few looks of my own. Here are some of my favourite looks:
And can we just talk about Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl look? Not strictly Valentine’s but it’s red and amazing and I love it!
The look I created is a little less dramatic than a red glittery eye but still more of an evening look.
I went for a brown smokey eye with a pop of pink. It’s a super easy look to achieve so I’ve include a step by step pictorial for anyone that wants to give it a go. The best part is it works with any two colours, I used brown and pink but literally any colour combination would work so get creative!
Step 1: Apply a soft transition colour to the crease. I used hourglass ambient lighting powder in radiant light.
Step 2: Apply a brown eyeshadow in a V shape to the outer corner. I used the shade punk from the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette.
Step 3: Do the same thing in the inner corner, leaving a gap in the centre of the eyelid.
Step 4: Blend the edges.
Step 5: Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 to deepen the colour.
Step 6: Add the pink shade to the centre of the lid where there is no shadow. I used the shade Harajuku from the Gwen Stefani palette.
Step 7: Continue to apply the pink shade until you are happy with the intensity and softly blend the edges into the brown shade so you get a seamless transition from pink to brown and no harsh edges.
Step 8: smudge the brown shade under the lower lash line and apply black kohl liner to the waterline.
Step 9: Apply liquid liner and mascara to complete the look.
Thanks for reading everyone, I’d love to see if anyone recreates this look! My Instagram is phillippaharvey so please tag me if you do, and I hope you all have a fantastic Valentine’s Day.
