As usual I’m a bit late with the favourites as we’re already into May, but I still wanted to share with you all what I’ve been loving over the past month.
The first favourite should come as no surprise as I’ve mentioned it in my last two posts, it’s the urban decay naked skin concealer. I’ve been using it for contouring all month and I’ve really enjoyed the natural look I can achieve with it.
Because I’ve been contouring a lot more recently I’ve been using the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette a lot more too and it’s made me realise how much I love it. It’s nothing new but it really is the best powder contour I’ve found, and I’ve tried a lot!
I’ve also been trying a yet another new mascara this month, the L’oreal false lash architect. As much as I like the Marc Jacobs mascara I bought recently I find it takes quite a long time to build up, so it’s great for a night out or when I have a lot of time to get ready, but not ideal for everyday. That’s where the false lash architect comes in, it builds great volume in one coat and lasts all day, which means I can spend less time on my makeup and more time in bed on a morning.
This next favourite might seem a little boring but bear with me. It’s the Inglot Duraline. It looks like a clear gel, which is kind of what it is… but it’s what you can use it for that is so good. You can add a drop to any eyeshadow or pigment to create a liquid eyeliner which is fantastic for creating wings in colours other than black without having to buy a whole new liner that you’ll only use once. You can also add it to regular gel eyeliner when it’s starting to dry out and it’s like your liner is new again. I’ve used it to revive my dried out dip brow too.
I’ve rediscovered some of my old Mac shadows this month too, and I’ve fallen back in love with mulch. Such a disgusting name but the colour is beautiful. It doesn’t look anything special in the pan, a true brown with a gold fleck running through it, but it transforms when applied to the skin. It’s almost like a dark bronze colour on the eyelid and really makes blue eyes pop. It applies so smoothly and the colour is very intense which isn’t always the case with Mac shadows. If you want a really bold smokey spray your brush with a little fix+ before applying the shadow and it will create a gorgeous foiled effect.
Another Mac favourite! I’ve had a sample of strobe cream, which I haven’t used in years, and I remembered why it’s such a cult beauty product. It gives the skin a beautiful luminosity without any sparkle or shimmer or, most importantly, grease. It makes for such a beautiful subtle highlight. Wear it alone for natural healthy glow or layer it under a powder highlight to create the kind of highlight you can see from space. As soon as the sample is through I’ll be purchasing a full size tube – I’m hooked again!
Last but not least are these lashes from Daiso. I lurrrrve Asian lashes because they’re not enormous so I feel like I can wear them everyday for a bit of volume without feeling self conscious. And they’re so cheap from Daiso! Usually around 7dhs a pack so I can justify wearing lashes on the daily. Obviously for that price they’re not the best quality, they’re plastic so not ideal for photography but I’m not exactly getting followed by the paparazzi so they’re perfect for me.
And that’s everything for another month! This year is whizzing by! Thanks for reading everyone, and happy May.
