We’re over half way through the year already – what a horrifying thought! I haven’t achieved any of what I wanted to for 2016 so it’s the kick up the bum I needed to get the wheels in motion again. On a lighter note, the end of the month means that it’s time for a round up of my monthly favourites.
Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette
There was so much hype surrounding this product that I was afraid I would end up disappointed with it. That didn’t stop me from squealing with delight when I finally managed to get my hands on it though. And the equal was justified because the palette is as good as they say. If you love warm neutrals then this is for you. What I love about it is that it’s a neutral and wearable palette but still has a few more colourful shades so that it isn’t completely boring. Also it smells of sweeties, so what is there not to love about that! I’ve been using this every day over the past month, for the everyday routine I wear to work and for more glam looks. I think I’m going to do a “three looks, one palette” post using this so let me know if you would be interested in seeing that.
The Balm Mary Lou Maniser Highlighter
Another product that is raved about, and again for good reason. I always wondered how people managed to create that tin foil kind of shine with their highlight until I discovered this product. Most of the highlighters I have in my collection are a lot more subtle than this, which is great for a day to day makeup. Sometimes though I really want to achieve a super unnatural, plastic looking cheek highlight, The Balm’s Mary Lou Maniser is perfect for this! It’s such a smooth formula too, so you don’t end up with great big chunks of sparkle on your face, just a beautiful white-gold shine. The best part is that it has a golden undertone to it but it is still suitable for pale skin tones like mine, a lot of gold highlights just look too yellow, this is perfect.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Milkshake
This is an oldie but goodie. I think this along with Pure Hollywood were the first Anastasia liquid lipsticks that I purchased on a trip to America a few years ago and that was where my love affair with liquid lipsticks began. Since then so many other brands have launched liquid lips and although Anastasia have always remained my favourite this colour seemed to have slipped under the radar. Well recently when I was “shopping my stash” I fell in love with it all over again. It’s a very light nude pink with a white undertone so it’s not particularly flattering on it’s own but teamed with a nude lip liner it is perfection. I sometimes use it to lighten a deeper liquid lipstick too, because it has that white base it works really well. This has been my go – to handbag shade for the month of June, and I suspect it will be staying there long into July too.
OPI Gel Nails
Your everyday, regular Joe nail polish lasts approximately 3 minutes on me without chipping. That sounds dramatic but it’s true, I don’t know if it is the condition of my nails or that I’m not careful enough but either way it is very annoying. Luckily I’ve started using the OPI Gel nail polishes instead and I am loving it. I find the OPI gel lasts so much longer than other gel polish brands. This month I’ve really really been enjoying bright summery reds and pinks.
Finally my most favourite thing in the month of June was adopting this gorgeous girl! Not makeup related I know but I’m so in love, I couldn’t not mention her. Her name is Oreo and we adopted her from Stray Dogs Centre UAQ here in Dubai. If any of you live nearby and are looking to adopt a dog I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Thanks for reading everyone and happy July!! I’d love to hear what everyone else has been loving this month.
