Hi everyone! The blog has been post free for the past few days as I was in Wales for Eid weekend. I’m back now though and have something a bit different for today’s post. The “Full Face Highlighter Challenge” has been doing the rounds on Youtube and I wanted to get in on the action and put my highlight collection to good use.
If you don’t know what I’m taking about then let me explain. As the name of the challenge would suggest it involves doing your entire makeup but using only highlighting products. It’s a bit silly, obviously it’s not a particularly wearable look, but it is lot of fun. Here are a few of my favourite youtube videos and instagram posts featuring the challenge:
I have a bit of a soft spot for highlighters so I was excited to give this a go. To start off with I used Clinique up-lighting liquid illuminator all over the full face. I highlighted the under eye, top of the cheek bones and down the centre of the face with my ELF shimmer palette. I set the entire face with the highlight from Charlotte Tilbury’s film star bronze and glow palette. I added some “contour” with my Bobbi Brown shimmer brick and then finished with some gold on the eyes from my Makeup Forever Duo.
Having oily skin already all of this highlighting just made me look even greasier and very much accentuated my already large pores. I didn’t hate the over all look though, I think with a little adaptation this look could be very wearable. Switching the highlighter on the nose and naturally oil producing areas for foundation and setting with a matte powder could make all the difference. So even though the challenge is just a bit of a joke I do think you could use elements from it and incorporate them into your everyday makeup routine.
I’d love to see if anyone else has also attempted the full face highlighter challnege, especially if you’ve made a video. Thanks for reading everyone!
