Six of the best: Bright Lips
I really enjoyed my last “six of the best” post so I thought I would do another one using bright lip colours. If any of you have a ridiculous lipstick collection like me I would recommend challenging yourself to wearing a different colour everyday for a week (you’re allowed Sunday off!). It’s a great way to get to wear all of those long lost colours and it has made me fall in love with makeup all over again. It makes me get a little more creative on a daily basis and not fall into a makeup rut.
Nars Lipgloss in Priscilla
I’m not usually one for gloss but I really love this. I just have a miniature gift with purchase sized tube but honestly I think this might be the perfect size for me. I rarely finish a lipgloss. The formula is thick enough to last a few hours but not so much so that it is uncomfortable to wear. The colour payoff is fantastic too, very pigmented and creamy looking.
Bite Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Blood Orange
I bought this when I was in New York last year so I really hope that this is still available. If you can get your hands on this colour I urge you to! I have quite pink undertones to my skin so orange colours don’t usually suit me but this colour is perfect. I think it would suit any skin tone. The formula is creamy and easy to apply but it still appears matte. The crayon applicator makes it super easy to apply and you don’t need a lipliner. Best of all it smells of oranges! This was my favourite of the week.
Tom Ford Lips and Boys in Preston
This is a bright candy pink colour. The Tom Ford lipsticks are all beautiful in their formula so it really just comes down to whether or not you like the colour. I used to love this colour when I was a few years younger, I’d wear it instead of a red lip and it seemed younger and more fun. These days though I’m not sure if I’m a bit too old for this shade. I still love it bright pink but I’m afraid it looks a bit Pat Butcher or Miss Piggy now that I’m approaching 30. Depressing but true.
Nyx Soft Matte Lip Crème in Antwerp
I really like the consistency of this lip crème, it is like a liquid lipstick but it doesn’t set. If you’re not a fan of the dry feeling you can sometimes get with a matte lip then you will love this! The colour is a lot pinker than I was expecting from the packaging and I must say it’s not my favourite shade. I’d love to try this formula in another colour, maybe a nude or a soft pink.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Baby Pink
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Anastasia is the Queen of the liquid lip. I love the formulation of this product but sadly the colour is not so flattering for me. It is a yellow toned pink and it looks bizarre on my pale pink skin, almost as though I am wearing someone else’s lips. So as much as I like the colour to look at I won’t be wearing it again, this product has been moved over to my kit to look beautiful on someone else.
Tom Ford Lips and Boys in Patrick
Another Tom Ford! What can I say I was very excited when this collection was released. This is a beautiful coral colour. I like this a lot more than Preston and I think the colour is very unique. Perfect teamed with bronze skin and summer evenings sipping cocktails.
Thanks for reading everyone! Let me know if you have any bright lip colours that you think I’d love.
