Weird Beauty Trends
I don’t know about you but I seem to be noticing some bizarre beauty trends doing the rounds. Some of them are just plain crazy (100 layers of nail polish I’m looking at you) but some of them are actually quite useful! Being the makeup addict that I am I had to try out these weird and wonderful tricks and report back. So here are some of the unusual makeup tips that I have been wearing and loving recently:
This trick has been around for quite some time. Apparently Marlin Monroe used to do this to keep her brows in place and if it’s good enough for Marilyn it’s good enough for me! I must admit in this day and age I did wonder if it was necessary. We have so many brow products available to us surely there is something on the market that can do that job better than a bar of soap? Well I gave it a try and this is how it turned out:
I brushed a spooly onto a bar of clear soap with a touch of water and then combed through my brows. The trick is to brush upwards and then press the brows onto the skin. As the soap dries the brow hairs will set in place. This is great if you have sparse eyebrows as it will make them look thicker. Then all you need to do is fill in any gaps with hair like strokes. You will achieve a very fluffy natural look. For me personally I have quite full brows to begin with and the hairs themselves are very long so I find this technique can be quite time consuming. However if you are lacking in the brow department I think you’ll love this. The best part about it is that it is super easy to achieve and cheap as chips because all you’ll need is soap!
False Lashes Under Natural Lashes
I’ve watched a lot of videos on this and it looked very difficult in all of them. I do struggle to hide the vein of falsies when applying them to myself though so I thought I’d give this a try in the hope that it might solve my problem. The good news is that it is nowhere near as difficult as I thought it was going to be. In fact I found this easier than applying falsies on top of my natural lashes. And as expected it does help hide the join between your lashes and the false lashes. The bad news is that if like me you have blonde lashes you’ll need to really coat them with mascara if you want to hide that. Also it’s not the most comfortable position for false lashes to be in. I would recommend this if you want to enhance your lashes but keep the overall look natural. You can even get away with very big lashes this way, because they’re underneath they’ll look less intense.
Liquid Lipstick as Blush
I got this tip from the Kat Von D Instagram page. At first I was a little worried that the dry formula of a liquid lipstick would look too patchy and enhance the pores on my cheeks. This is not the case at all though. I apply the lipstick to the back of my hand and then buff the colour onto my cheeks with a blush. The colour will blend out effortlessly and it will last all day. The best part about it is that you get an exact match to your lipstick and I for one absolutely love that. I’ve been using Mac retro matte liquid lipcolour in mademoiselle and it gives the perfect peachy flush.
As always, thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I would love to know if you guys have any other crazy makeup tips for me to try out.
