It’s getting to be that time of year when we start to put together a wish list for Santa Claus in the hope he might surprise us with something from it on Christmas day. With that in mind I’ve decided to put together a wish list of my own, in the hope that it might inspire some of you beauty lovers out there with ideas for your own lists. Or even better it might give you some great gift ideas for your loved ones, after all I always enjoy the giving of the gifts a lot more than the receiving (perhaps a sign that I’m getting old!) This wishlist is also a little selfish of me because it’s a bit like window shopping, I’m getting my makeup fix without having to actually part with any cash!
Makeup Forever Flash Palette
I’ve been eyeing up this palette for YEARS. It’s either out of stock when I go to get it or it’s in stock and I can’t stomach the price tag at the time – typical! It is pricey but if you know of any budding makeup artists this would be invaluable in their kit and make for a fantastic gift. I know I’d get a tonne of use out of this, I have something similar from Ben Nye and I use it to death. The cremes are very versatile as they can be used anywhere on the face or body and theyre extremely pigmented.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation
As well you know I’m a huge fan of Anastasia, so when I heard she had a foundation coming out I was beyond excited. Sadly it’s not currently available in Dubai but I’ve been stalking Sephora like a crazy woman in anticipation for it. This would be a great gift for a makeup lover because a.) It’s new so he/she is unlikely to already own it b.) who doesn’t love a high end foundation? And c.) You don’t need to lose sleep over the shade because with it being a stick it can be used to contour and highlight. So if it’s too dark of a colour for a foundation, it’s a great contour, too light a beautiful cream highlight! I loved the Makeup Forever Ultra HD foundation stick but my skin was just too oily for it. I’ve heard the Anastasia offering is more suitable for my skin type!
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick
If you have a friend who loves a quirky coloured lip then look no further than Jeffree’s lip range! He has a fantastic offering of crazy colours as well as some more wearable ones. Personally I have my eye on “Drug Lord” which is a white colour. Before you all think I’ve lost my marbles I think it would be great to mix with other liquid lip colours to lighten them, also a white is always handy for lip art and particularly difficult to come across. Other shades on my wish list are “Breakfast at Tiffanys” a beautiful duck egg blue, “Abused” a deep navy and “unicorn blood” a beautiful blood red.
Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Colour
If the Jeffree Star offerings are a little too “out there” for you then Chanel have just released their own liquid lipsticks. They’re super luxurious and beautifully packaged as you would imagine from Chanel. The colours are of course much more wearable but still incredibly beautiful. I think this would be such a lovely gift to give a friend for Christmas, especially if you know she likes a longwearing lipstick.
Illamasqua Radiance Veil Primer
A primer! Yes you read that correctly, a primer has made it’s way onto my wish list. I’m still very skeptical about the whole primer thing but I’m testing some out, and this one I actually like. Does it make my makeup last any longer? I doubt it highly, but I very much enjoy the appearance on the skin. 2016 has been the year of the glow when it comes to makeup and this primer really gives you a glow! We used this when I did my makeup course with Illamasqua and it really does look beautiful under skin base. It can also be used as a highlighter on top of your foundation to give a soft sheen.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
I’ve raved about this before and I’ll do it again! I used every last gram of product in my previous palette – of every colour! I think this is such a beautiful face powder and would make a gorgeous gift. The powders make for very gentle non shimmery highlighters too so this would be lovely for your Mum or Nan if they want to get in on the highlighter trend but are a bit nervous of the shimmer!
Beauty Advent Calendars
There are also so incredibly beautiful makeup and beauty advent calendars this year, the Charlotte Tilbury one is what dreams are made of but I’m sure it is already sold out. I think these are such fantastic gifts and there are so many options now, almost every brand does one so it’s easy to find something within budget! A fantastic idea for those friends you won’t get to see at Christmas, give them this before hand and they can appreciate it all month!
I could go on forever talking about lustworthy makeup but for now I will stop myself. Let me know if any of these products have found themselves on your list too. As always thank you so much for reading, and happy Christmas shopping!
