It’s day one of the beauty brawl and today we’re reviewing a moisturiser. If you’ve read my blog before you’ll know that skin care isn’t really my thang so I’ve decided to review a body moisturiser, something a little more in my comfort zone! My moisturiser of choice is the Soap & Glory sugar crush moisture extreme body buttercream – what an insanely long name!.
So what did I think of the product itself? Well as I mentioned earlier I don’t love moisturiser of any kind, so this was always going to be a tricky category for me. I must say though, I was pleasantly surprised by this product. It is quite thick and creamy so has a very luxurious feel when applied. Because it is so creamy it is also very moisturising (which is kind of the point of the product) and long-lasting. Usually with such a heavy moisturiser I find that it doesn’t sink into the skin very well, I end up lying awake all night because I can feel my legs sticking together. I hate that! However that doesn’t happen at all with this product, it is easily absorbed into the skin and extremely comfortable. Also the smell! Can we just talk about the smell?! It’s amazing!! Very sweet and strong and it will linger on your skin for hours after applying so that you smell like a giant sugary mojito. I love it, nothing bad to say about this product whatsoever.
I don’t have too much to say about the packaging. It’s quite bright and garish for my personal tastes but it’s by no means ugly. The size of the tub and therefore the amount of product you get inside is very generous, so that’s a definite plus. I don’t love having to scoop product out with my fingers as it gets stuck under my nails but there isn’t really an alternative when using such a thick moisturiser. All in all, I don’t love the packaging but I don’t hate it either. It could be more “luxe” to match the quality of the product, but it is a highstreet product and I’d much rather pay a lower price for a fantastic product with mediocre packaging, than a much higher price just for a fancier tub.
This retails for ten of your british pounds. I have no idea how much it costs here in Dubai, in theory it should be around 50dhs but I have no doubt it’ll be double the price it is in the UK “just because”. Ten pounds is not going to be the cheapest moisturiser on the market but for the amount you get and the quality of the product I think that’s a fantastic price!
So now that you’ve heard my moisturiser ramblings, here is the best part of the beauty brawl – the top trump card!
What do you guys think? Agree with my scores or do you think there are better products out there? Let me know and don’t forget to check out the other girls taking part in the beauty brawl to see which moisturisers they’ve reviewed, I can’t wait to see which one gets the best scores!
