Foundation: Blogger’s Christmas Beauty Brawl

The day I’ve been waiting for… foundation review day!! I’m officially out of foundation and I’ve been dying to read everyone else’s reviews to help me decide on a new one. For the past few months I’ve been using Maybelline dream satin liquid. I always like to give foundations a good trial before I form a proper opinion and write a review. I’ve been using this one for quite a while so I think the time has come.

When I first bought this foundation I tried it on the back of my hand and did a little dance. It felt and looked just like the Bourjois healthy mix foundation which I love and I thought I’d stumbled across another amazing drugstore base. When applied to the skin though I was a little bit disappointed. The coverage isn’t quite as full as I would like, though this might be good if you already have nice skin and just need a little evening out. I’m also way too oily for this foundation. It just sits on top of my skin and slides straight off after about an hour. And it transfers. My god does it transfer!! My poor dog is white so she spends most of her time caked in this stuff if I’ve been wearing it. I think this foundation would be great if you have normal to dry skin and don’t need a high coverage. Sadly it just doesn’t work for me. Also it’s SPF 13. What on earth?? I can’t get my head around why it’s such an odd number. Silly I know but for some reason that bothers me.

Obviously this is a drugstore foundation so the packaging isn’t going to be super luxurious. With foundation particularly I like for it to have pretty packaging so that I can have it out on my dresser. Having said that it ticks all the boxes:

  • It is clear so that you can see how much you have left
  • It has a pump
  • Small and lightweight

I think the price for this foundation is very reasonable. It’s £7.99 in the UK which I think is about right for a high street foundation. Any more would be too expensive. I think this foundation is definitely worth a try if you have the right skin type for it, at at £7.99 you won’t be too disappointed if you don’t get one with it.
