It’s that time of the month again – favorites time! This year is just flying by, it feels like only last week that I was writing my beauty resolutions post, and here we are six months in! So without any further waffle, here’s a round up of my June favourites.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish
First and foremost I’ve been love love loving the Charlotte Tilbury powder. It is a total life saver for anyone with an oily T zone. I carry this around with me and use it to touch up during the day. After a quick re touch with this stuff my makeup looks fresh and perfect again and most importantly NOT POWDERY! I don’t know what kind of sorcery Charlotte uses in the creation of this stuff but it’s mind blowing! A non powdery powder – have you ever heard of such nonsense? I love it because it has a little bit of coverage to blur out any imperfections and it leaves your skin looking airbrushed and almost dewy. The only downside is that I am tearing through the stuff at an alarming rate – the sooner Charlotte Tilbury arrives in Dubai the better!
June Favourites Lash Combination
I’ve also been loving this lash combo this month. I’m on what you might call a “lash diet” in that I’m attempting to cut down on my use of falsies. As ridiculous as that sounds it’s really hard to wean yourself off false lashes once you’re used to the look of your face with them on! Thankfully this combination of products has helped me through this “tough” time. My Mac extended play gigablack lash is super dried out – but that’s what I love about it! I curl my lashes first and then apply the dry mascara to give length and separation.
I then go over the top with this Barry M waterproof mascara. This is quite a wet formula so it gives a lot of volume. It does have the tendency to clump when worn on it’s own so to avoid this I use the real techniques lash comb to brush it through. Once the mascara is completely dry (around 10 – 15 minutes later) I curl my lashes again. This technique makes them sooooo long, I am hooked!
Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs
It’s that time of year when we’re all starting to wear a little less clothing. I am not a huge fan of flashing the flesh so the idea of stripping off the layers feels me with blind panic. To try and ease the stress slightly I like to bathe in fake tan in the hope that it’ll make me magically appear slimmer and more toned. This past month I’ve rediscovered the Sally Hansen fake tan. It has a bit of coverage in it which I enjoy as it blurs out the appearance of patchy legs and hides bruises and veins. It’s also instant so there’s no drying time which I very much appreciate as I’m super impatient.
Being an instant tanner also means there is no fake tan smell – hurray for no chicken biscuit odour! But the best thing is that it’s waterproof, or more accurately when you live in the desert – sweat proof. This stuff won’t budge until you wash it off with soap.
There are a couple of downsides you should probably be aware of however. It’s a spray application, which is super easy but disastrous if you have a white bathroom! Also the coverage that I mentioned earlier can be bit alarming if you use this all over. I think this was intended only for the legs but if like me you use it everywhere it can feel a bit like you’re wearing body makeup. For instance, if you spray this all over your body the coverage is enough to camouflage nipples – which can give you a real shock when you look in the mirror!
Kure Bazaar Nail Polishes
Another thing I’ve been totally obsessed with this month has been bright nails. I’ve often mentioned on the blog how much I enjoy gel nails – and I definitely still do – but I’ve had a little break this month and I’ve actually quite enjoyed it. I tried out the Kure Bazaar nail polishes for the first time and I loved them. They’re cruelty free and non toxic which is great – it means if you’re pregnant or sensitive to chemicals they’re totally safe to wear. What I love about them though is that they’re fast drying – I can’t stand waiting for my nails to dry. The colours I have are carioca, french nude and afrika, they are just PERFECT for summer.
At Home With… Podcast
I’m a little late in getting in to the podcast by Lily Pebbles and The Anna Edit but now I’ve discovered it I’m completely obsessed! If you haven’t listened already you must. Each week they interview a different inspiring lady from the beauty community. It’s very motivating and it’s making me look forward to my Wednesday morning dog walk.
My very last june favourite (and every month favourite) is my little pup Oreo. We’ve had her for 1 whole year now and she brings so much happiness into our lives everyday. Just look at the little face!
Thanks so much for reading and don’t forget to comment below with the products that you’ve been enjoying this month!
