Are you tired of having bad hair days? Or would you like to spend more time in bed on a morning, and less time in front of the mirror trying to tame your mane? If the answer is yes then this is the post for you! My hair is a constant battle so over the years I’ve managed to create some coping mechanisms, and I think you just might like them. The following are my top tips and super easy hairstyles that will leave bad hair days a thing of the past:
I can hear you groaning at how obvious this one is, but I had to include good old dry shampoo. I couldn’t make it through the week without this hair hero. My favourite brand of dry shampoo is Batiste, for my blonde hair the white cast comes in quite handy at hiding roots.
If however you have dark hair and the white powder just won’t do, then I’m also a huge fan of the co-lab range. It works fantastically at absorbing oils in the hair but what I think sets it apart is the amazing range of fragrances. This stuff is seriously like perfume for your hair.
This is my go-to trick for those days when my hair just won’t cooperate! A braid always makes it look like you’ve put a little bit of thought into your appearance and not just rolled straight off the bed (which usually I have!).
Here are some of my favourite ways to incorporate braids:
Fish Tail Braid
This hairstyle is so simple so do while still looking seriously impressive. To achieve the look part your hair into two sections, then take a small piece of hair from one section and pass it to the other section. Repeat and voila!
This is a great way to keep your fringe or bangs out of your face if you’re trying to grow them out, while still looking stylish. The best part about this one is that it literally takes seconds – it’s just a quick french braid at the front of your face.
If you wake up and your hair is wild and just won’t be tamed this is the best! Dutch braids will keep all of you hair tied back and tamed while simultaneously making it look like you’ve made an effort and not just thrown your hair back. The best part is that the next day you’ll have beautiful waves in your hair, so this is a 2 or the price of one hairstyle!
I don’t know about you but when my hair isn’t cooperating (or when I just CBA getting out of bed) then this is my go to. Having said that, the greasy hair thrown on the top of my head look isn’t going to fly in the office so we have to glam it up a bit. Adding a braid at the base of your neck is a great way of doing this.
Or part your hair on the side and have a loose braid leading into the knot…
Another great way (and very simple way) of glamming up a top knot is to tuck in the ends and adding an accessory – instant glam and minimal effort!
The good old ponytail! It’ll never be out of style. Having said that you have to be careful not to end up looking like a school girl. The best way to avoid this is to add volume. Tease hair at the crown of your head before tying into the ponytail. You can also cheat the appearance of a fuller ponytail by tying your hair into two different sections as so…
To finish your grown up pony hide the elastic by tying your hair around it and pinning underneath.
For me this is about as complicated as I get on a morning – I love my sleep way too much to be doing anything more in-depth. Let me know if you try out any of these hairstyles and if you found them simple enough.
