Five Fun Ways To Embrace Autumn / Fall This Season

Five Fun Ways To Embrace Autumn / Fall This Season

One of the things that most of us in Dubai love about living here is the year-round glorious sunshine. Having said that my British roots really do yearn for the seasons sometimes. As much as I love being able to bask in a bikini in mid-October a little part of me really misses the beauty of autumn in the UK.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way so to help us all get into the autumnal spirit I have put together a blog post all about what I do to feel seasonal when the weather never changes. (Spoiler alert, you can totally still do this if you live somewhere with seasons – embrace it!)

Autumn Makeup

First and foremost, an easy way to embrace the autumn season change is to mix up your makeup routine. Being a beauty blog I guess this was an obvious tip! When the weather changes it can affect your skin, and as such your might automatically change your makeup. You can still change your up your look without the change in outside conditions though.

Colour is a fantastic (not to mention super easy!) way to mix up your makeup routine. Browns, oranges, and golds look very seasonal on the eyelids at this time of year. Burnt oranges, rustic reds, and mustard yellows will make for a great choice in autumn nail polishes. But by far my favourite way to look instantly fall-festive is to add a beautiful bold lip to your makeup look. The most autumnal colours are deep reds, burgundys and wine shades.

Autumn Decorating Ideas

This is my favourite way to trick myself into experiencing autumn in Dubai. (I might add that it is my other half’s least favourite way!) I like to slightly change my home interiors for every season, Craig thinks that my actions are that of a crazy person. I think the reason for this is that he thinks it’s a waste of time and money but in reality, it is very easy and affordable! Here are some of my favourite ways to make your living space a little bit more autumnal:

Autumn Candles

Candles are a great way to make your home feel more seasonal because not only do they give off a lovely smell which reminds you of a this beautiful time of year but they can also add a pop of seasonal colour. For fall golds, coppers and bronze colours are beautiful.

DIY Autumn Fall Decor

If you’re after a bit of a DIY fall decor project, hollowing out a small pumpkin or an apple and filling it with a tea light can also be a great way to make your home really festive. It’s a fun creative activity to do with kids at this time of year too. If candles aren’t your thing you can use the same technique to make little pumpkin planters.

Fairy Lights

Similarly to candles, fairy lights give your home a lovely warm ambiance. The warm glow from the lights will give the feel of a cozy, autumn evening. I like to use them in festive table centre pieces like this one:

I also made this super cute autumn tree using fairy lights. I got the idea from pinterest, where I saw a thanksgiving tree and the idea is to right something that your grateful for on each leaf – how cute!?

Plants

Plants are a great way to decorate your living space all year round. For autumn you can use seasonally themed plant pots to add some festivity to your home. If, like me, you struggle to keep a plant alive and fear the commitment of a pot then you can achieve a similar effect by choosing a bunch of flowers in festive autumn shade. Check out this beautiful bloom from uniflora.ae:

Fall Cooking

One of the best parts about the change from summer to autumn (for me at least) is the warm, comforting food. Fluffy woolen jumpers hide a multitude of sins so get stuck in! My favourite way to feel instantly in the autumn spirit is to make a big batch of pumpkin soup. I love it so much that I’ve got a link to the recipe I use here (it’s so simple so don’t panic if you’re not a whizz in the kitchen).

Fall Cooking

If soup isn’t your thing why not make some halloween cookies? You’ll have so much fun decorating them that you won’t want to eat them.

Failing that you could go for the simplest option of all – good old hot chocolate. Nothing screams dark November nights like a good book, fluffy socks and a big cup of hot cocoa!

Let me know your favourite ways to embrace the new season, autumn is my favoruite of the year so I like to cherish every moment!

As always thank you so much for reading, you guys are amazing. I’ve had so much love and support from you guys over the past month, particularly on my halloween post from last year, and I just wanted to say thank you so much, it means everything.
